White contact lenses for Halloween and horror looks
Nothing makes people back away at a party quite like white eyes. We've seen grown adults jump when one of us turned round in White Manson lenses, and honestly that's the whole point. White contact lenses take a so so costume and make it properly creepy, and you barely need any other makeup to pull it off.
We've got quite a few white contacts, and they're not all the same. Some are pure white, some have black rings or patterns, and a couple are proper sclera style lenses for photos. Here's how we'd choose.
Classic white contacts with a clear pupil
White Manson Contact Lenses are the ones we'd start with. A white iris with a black ring round the edge, so your eyes look blank but still defined. It's the creepy staple for a reason.
Zombie Contact Lenses and White Zombie Contact Lenses give you that milky, dead eyed look. They're brilliant for zombies, ghosts, possessed dolls and anything that crawled out of a grave. Crack White Contact Lenses add fine cracked lines over the white, which looks amazing up close in photos. At 14.5mm these all make the iris look slightly bigger, which adds to the unsettling effect.
White lenses with a twist
If you want something a bit different, Black and White Contact Lenses are split half black and half white, great for a two faced villain or a creepy clown. Black Cross Contact Lenses are white with a black cross, the cartoon dead eyes look that's perfect for a rag doll or a game character who's just been knocked out. White Cat Eye Contact Lenses add a slit pupil design, so you get a pale, eerie cat or demon stare.
For Naruto fans, Hinata Hyuga Naruto Contact Lenses give you the pale lilac white Byakugan. They also sit in our blackout range, so check the product page for vision details before you wear them anywhere busy.
White sclera and blind white contact lenses
Blind White Sclera Contact Lenses are completely white with no clear pupil. They look incredible for Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride, ghosts and blind witches. But you can't see properly through them, so they're for photos and posing only. Not for driving, stairs or walking round a busy party.
White Mesh Sclera Contact Lenses have a fine mesh pattern over the pupil, so you get partial vision through them. Better than fully blind, but still a lens we'd keep for shoots and short bursts rather than a whole night out.
Do white contact lenses work on dark eyes?
Yes. White is an opaque colour, so it shows up on any eye colour, including very dark brown. Up close on very dark eyes you might catch a hint of your own colour through the pattern, but from a normal distance and in photos it reads as white. Bright light helps. Dim party lighting makes them look even spookier, as your pupil gets bigger and the edges blur a bit.
How we'd wear them
Put your lenses in before your face makeup so you're not rubbing your eyes once the paint's on. Dark shadow round the eye, a bit of grey on the lids and some smudged black liner make white lenses look even more dead. With white contacts, less is more. Let the eyes do the work.
All our white contact lenses are non prescription and CE certified, and they're 1 year wear when you look after them. Wash your hands, rub and rinse in fresh solution, keep them in a clean case and never sleep in them. Each pair is £12.99, and any 2 pairs are £22.99, so you and a mate can go full zombie together.
