Cat eye contact lenses for Halloween and cosplay

There's something about a slit pupil that gets a reaction like nothing else. Plain coloured lenses can look a bit like you've just changed your eye colour, but cat eye contact lenses make people do a double take. We wear them every Halloween, and they're always the bit of the costume people want a closer look at.

Each pair has a dark vertical slit printed in the centre, so your pupil looks long and thin like a cat, snake or dragon. Around it is a solid colour that covers your own eyes, so they work on brown eyes just as well as on blue.

Our cat eye contacts by colour

Yellow Cat Eye Contact Lenses are the classic. Think black cat, werewolf or snake, and it's the one most people picture when they hear "cat eyes". Green Cat Eye Contact Lenses are great for a witch's cat, a reptile or a lizard look, and they're 14.2mm, so a touch smaller and more natural looking than the rest.

Red Cat Eye Contact Lenses are a deep red, which is brilliant for demons, devils and vampires. Purple Cat Eye Contact Lenses are a deep purple with little white specks, which gives a magical, slightly galaxy feel. Lovely for a fantasy character or a sorceress.

Blue Cat Eye Contact Lenses are a bright, cold blue that suits ice queens, aliens and dragons. And then there's White Cat Eye Contact Lenses, which are proper creepy. A pale white base with a slit is ideal for ghosts, possessed characters and anything you want to look a bit dead behind the eyes.

Can you see in cat eye lenses?

Yes, but it's worth being honest about it. The slit sits over your pupil, so your vision can look a little hazier than normal, and it's more noticeable in dim light. They're fine for a party, a photoshoot or walking round a convention once you're used to them. We wouldn't drive in them, and we'd take extra care on stairs in a dark venue.

Sizes and comfort

Most of our cat eye contacts are 14.5mm, which gives a slightly bigger, bolder iris. That helps the slit pop in photos. The White Cat Eye pair is 14.0mm, and Green is 14.2mm. Blue, Green and White have 42% water content for a softer, more moist feel. The others are 40%, which is standard and comfy.

Styling tips from us

  • A sharp winged liner flick turns any of these into a proper cat eye look in seconds.
  • Match your contour to the lens. Green scales or yellow highlight on the cheekbones makes a snake or dragon look much more convincing.
  • For photos, light from the side shows off the colour and the slit better than a flash straight on.
  • Put your lenses in before your make up, so you don't get bits of glitter or powder in your eyes.

Looking after your cat eye lenses

All our cat eye contact lenses are 1 year wear when you clean and store them properly, so one pair will see you through Halloween, a few cons and next Halloween too. Rub and rinse in fresh solution, store them in a clean case, never use tap water and never sleep in them. Every pair is £12.99, or mix and match any 2 for £22.99 or 3 for £31.99.

Cat Eye Contact Lenses FAQs

Can you see properly with cat eye contact lenses?
You can see through them, but the printed slit sits over your pupil, so vision can be a little hazier than normal, especially in low light. They're fine for parties, photos and conventions once you're used to them. Don't drive in them and take care on stairs in dark places.
Do cat eye contacts work on brown eyes?
Yes. The colour around the slit is opaque, so it covers brown eyes well. Yellow, white and red show up most on very dark eyes. Purple and blue still cover nicely but can look a little deeper indoors than they do in daylight.
Are cat eye contact lenses safe?
They're safe when they're CE certified and you look after them properly. Wash and dry your hands first, use fresh solution every time, never tap water, and never sleep in them. Take them out if they sting or feel wrong. If you've got eye problems, check with an optician first.
What colour cat eye lenses should I get for a black cat costume?
Yellow is the classic choice for a black cat. Green also works really well and looks a little softer. Pair either with black winged liner and you're sorted.
Which cat eye lenses are best for a snake or reptile look?
Yellow Cat Eye and Green Cat Eye are our favourites for snakes, lizards and reptiles. Add some green or gold shimmer on the cheekbones and a few drawn on scales for a really convincing finish.
What are the scariest cat eye contacts?
White Cat Eye Contact Lenses are the creepiest of the bunch. The pale base with a dark slit looks ghostly and a bit possessed. Red Cat Eye is a close second, great for demons and devils.
How long do cat eye contact lenses last?
Ours are 1 year wear from when you first open them, as long as you clean and store them properly. That means rub and rinse in fresh solution after each wear and keep them in a clean case. If one tears or feels uncomfortable, bin it.
Can I wear cat eye contacts all night at a Halloween party?
Plenty of people do. Put them in at home with clean hands, take a case and solution with you, and take them out if your eyes feel dry or sore. Never fall asleep in them after the party, however tired you are.
Do I need a prescription for cat eye contact lenses?
No, ours are non-prescription (0.00 power). They're purely cosmetic and won't correct your sight. You can't wear them over normal contacts, so if you rely on glasses, have a chat with your optician.
Can I get cat eye contacts in time for Halloween?
Yes. Order before 2pm on a working day and it goes out the same day with Royal Mail next day delivery, and there's a paid Saturday delivery option too. Halloween week gets busy, so we'd order a little early if you can.
