Violet contact lenses, the softer side of purple

Violet eyes have a bit of a legend about them. Old film stars, fantasy heroines, half the cast of every anime. Very few people are born with them, which is probably why we love wearing violet contact lenses so much. It's a colour that gets noticed but still feels pretty rather than costume.

We put the gentler, cooler purples on this page. If you want deep grape or bright Halloween purple, our purple page has more of those.

Our violet lenses for dark eyes

Brown eyes are where violet usually struggles, so we've picked lenses with proper pigment. Violet Contact Lenses are a clean, pretty violet that's made to cover dark eyes. Purple Haze Eyes Contact Lenses have a lighter purple centre with a darker ring round the edge, which gives a soft, dreamy look that we'd happily wear to the shops.

Stardust Violet Contact Lenses add a tiny bit of sparkle to the pattern. They're 14.2mm, so they look natural in size, and in daylight they catch the light really nicely. All three of these work on brown eyes.

Brighter violet contacts

If you want more of a statement, Purple Solar Contact Lenses are a really bright purple that pops in photos and at parties. They're great for witchy Halloween looks and for anime characters with glowing eyes.

Enchanting Violet Contact Lenses are a mix of pink and purple. They lean slightly warmer than the rest, so they look lovely with rosy or peachy makeup. On light eyes they're soft and pretty. On darker eyes they're a bit more subtle, so we'd save them for blue, green or grey eyes if you want the full effect.

How violet looks in different light

This is the bit people don't expect. Violet changes a lot with lighting. Outside in daylight it looks bright and clearly purple. Under warm indoor lights it goes slightly deeper and greyer, and under cool white lights it can look almost lilac. None of that is a bad thing, it just means your eyes look a little different all day.

Styling and care

Violet loves warm makeup. Gold, bronze and soft brown eyeshadow make the colour stand out far more than purple shadow does. Brown liner keeps it soft for daytime, and a flick of black liner makes it bolder for nights out.

All our violet contacts are non prescription and 1 year wear when you look after them. Wash your hands first, rub and rinse them in fresh solution and keep them in a clean case. Never sleep in them, and take them out if they sting or feel wrong.

Each pair is £12.99, and any 2 pairs are £22.99, so you can pair a soft violet for everyday with something brighter for parties.

Violet Contact Lenses FAQs

Do violet contact lenses work on brown eyes?
Yes, if you choose a pigmented pair. Violet Contact Lenses, Purple Haze Eyes and Stardust Violet are all made to show on dark eyes. On very dark brown eyes the colour looks clearer in daylight and a bit deeper indoors.
What's the difference between violet and purple contacts?
Violet is the softer, slightly cooler side of purple, closer to blue. Purple covers the deeper, warmer and brighter shades. A few lenses, like Enchanting Violet and Stardust Violet, sit on both our purple and violet pages because they're right on the line.
Can anyone naturally have violet eyes?
It's incredibly rare. Some people with very pale blue eyes can look violet in certain light, which is where the famous Hollywood stories come from. For most of us, violet contact lenses are the only way to get the colour.
Which violet lenses look the most natural?
Purple Haze Eyes is the one we'd pick for a natural look. The lighter centre and darker edge blend with your own eye, so it looks soft rather than costume. Violet Contact Lenses are also lovely for everyday if you want a little more colour.
Are violet contact lenses safe?
Our lenses are CE certified and safe when you look after them. Wash and dry your hands, use fresh solution every time, keep them in a clean case and never sleep in them. If you have any eye problems, have a quick word with an optician first.
Can I see normally through violet contacts?
Yes. They all have a clear pupil area, so your vision isn't blocked. They're plano, so they won't change your eyesight. In very low light you might notice a faint tint at the edges, which goes once you're somewhere brighter.
What makeup goes with violet eyes?
Warm colours. Gold, copper and soft bronze eyeshadow make violet lenses look much brighter. Brown liner keeps it soft and daytime friendly. Matching purple shadow can actually make the lenses look duller, so we'd avoid it.
Are violet contacts good for cosplay?
Really good. Lots of anime and game characters have violet eyes. Stardust Violet and Purple Solar are popular for cosplay because they show up well in photos and under con lighting.
How long do violet contact lenses last?
Our violet lenses are 1 year wear when you clean and store them properly. Rub and rinse them in fresh solution after every wear and keep them in a clean case. If a lens tears or feels uncomfortable, replace it.
How much are violet contact lenses?
Every pair is £12.99, and that's two lenses. Any 2 pairs are £22.99, so you can mix violet with another colour. Order before 2pm on a working day for same day dispatch and next day delivery.
