Purple contact lenses that actually show on dark eyes

Purple is one of those colours people assume won't work on brown eyes. We get it, we thought the same before we tried them. The trick is pigment. A lot of our purple lenses are made to cover dark eyes, so the colour sits on top instead of disappearing into your natural brown.

Dreamy Purple Contact Lenses and Lunar Purple Contact Lenses are the ones we reach for when we want purple but still want to look like ourselves. In daylight they read as a clear soft purple. Indoors, under warm lights, they go a bit deeper and moodier, which we honestly love.

Bold purple contacts for cosplay and Halloween

If you want people to notice, go bright. Purple Burst Contact Lenses and Indigo Purple Contact Lenses are proper statement colours, and Purple Cat Eye Contact Lenses add a slit pupil design that looks brilliant for witches, demons and anything a bit otherworldly.

For anime fans there's loads here too. Ai Hoshino Purple Contact Lenses have the star detail from Oshi No Ko, Keqing Genshin Impact Contact Lenses go from pink to dark purple, and the Purple Rinnegan Naruto Contact Lenses give you those ripple rings. Most of our purple contacts are 14.5mm, which makes the iris look slightly bigger and bolder in photos.

Purple or violet, what's the difference?

Not much, if we're honest. We tend to call the bluer, softer shades violet and the deeper or brighter ones purple. Purple Haze Eyes Contact Lenses sit nicely in the middle, a light purple centre with a darker ring round the edge, so they look dreamy without being too much. If you want more of the bluey side, have a look at our violet page too.

Our styling tips for purple eyes

Purple pairs really well with warm makeup. A bit of bronze or copper shadow makes the colour pop far more than a matching purple shadow does. Brown liner instead of black also keeps things softer if you're wearing them out and about rather than for a costume.

On very dark brown eyes, pick a lens with more pigment and a solid outer ring. On lighter eyes, almost any of them will show, so you can go as subtle as you like.

Care and comfort

All our purple contact lenses are non prescription and last up to a year when you look after them. Wash your hands first, rub and rinse them in fresh solution and keep them in a clean case. Never sleep in them, and take them out if they sting or feel wrong.

Every pair is £12.99, and you can mix any 2 pairs for £22.99 or 3 for £31.99, so a natural pair for the weekend and a bold pair for a con works out nicely.

Purple Contact Lenses FAQs

Do purple contact lenses work on brown eyes?
Yes, as long as you pick a pair with enough pigment. Lenses like Dreamy Purple, Lunar Purple, Grape and Cosmic Purple are made to cover dark eyes, so the purple shows clearly. On very dark brown eyes the colour can look a little deeper indoors, but in daylight it comes through nicely.
Are purple contacts safe to wear?
Our purple contacts are CE certified and non prescription. They're safe when you treat them like any contact lens: clean hands, fresh solution every time, a clean case, and never sleeping in them. Don't share them with friends. If you have any eye problems, it's worth a quick chat with an optician before you start.
How long do purple contact lenses last?
Our purple lenses are 1 year wear, so one pair can see you through a whole year of nights out, cons and Halloween. That's as long as you clean them properly and store them in fresh solution. If a lens gets torn, scratched or starts feeling uncomfortable, bin it and get a new pair.
Can you get natural looking purple contact lenses?
You can. Dreamy Purple is our go to for a softer, more natural purple that you could wear out during the day. Purple Haze Eyes also looks quite gentle because the lighter centre blends into a darker ring. People will notice the colour, but it won't look like a costume.
Can anyone actually have purple eyes?
Truly purple eyes are incredibly rare. Some people with very light blue eyes can look a bit violet in certain lighting, which is where the old Hollywood stories come from. For most of us, a pair of purple contact lenses is the only way to get that colour, and that's half the fun.
Are purple contact lenses good for cosplay?
Really good. Purple eyes turn up loads in anime and games. We've got Ai Hoshino Purple for Oshi No Ko, Keqing for Genshin Impact and the Rinnegan lenses for Naruto fans. Try them in a couple of days before the con so you know how they feel after a few hours.
Can I see properly in purple contacts?
Yes. Our purple contacts all have a clear pupil area, so your vision stays normal. You might notice a faint tint at the edges in very low light or when your pupils get big, but it goes away quickly. They're plano, so they won't correct or change your eyesight.
Do purple contact lenses hurt?
They shouldn't. Most people feel them for the first minute and then forget they're in. If a lens stings, it might be inside out, have a bit of dust on it, or need a rinse. Take it out, rinse it in fresh solution and try again. If it still hurts, leave them out.
What's the difference between purple and violet contact lenses?
It's mostly shade. We call the softer, slightly bluer lenses violet and the brighter or deeper ones purple. Enchanting Violet and Stardust Violet sit in both pages because they're right on the line. If you're unsure, look at the product photos on dark and light eyes to see how each one sits.
How much are purple contact lenses?
Every pair of purple contact lenses we sell is £12.99, and that's for both lenses. If you want two different colours, any 2 pairs are £22.99, so you can mix purple with something else. Order before 2pm on a working day and it goes out the same day with next day delivery.
