We get loads of questions about glow in the dark and UV contact lenses, so we wanted to be straight with you from the start. No contact lens gives off its own light like a glow stick, and we wouldn't want to sell you something that pretends to. What we do have are lenses with really bright, luminous looking colour that pops when the lights go down.

What our glow in the dark contacts actually do

Glowing Green Contact Lenses are an almost luminous green. In daylight they look bright and vivid, and at night under coloured party lights they're the kind of colour people lean in to look at. They're 14.2mm with 42% water content, so they look natural in size and feel soft and moist.

Glowing Black Contact Lenses are a bit different. They're a black lens with a slight luminous effect in the dark, which gives a really eerie look for Halloween, vampires or anything demonic. They're also 14.2mm, so they look more like dark eyes than a giant black disc.

UV contact lenses for raves and festivals

People searching for UV contact lenses usually want something that shows up under blacklights at a club or festival. In our experience, bright and pale colours show up best under that sort of lighting. As well as the two lenses on this page, our white contact lenses and very bright colours like Cosplay Green or Hot Pink tend to look really strong under party lights. We'd still say test them at home with your own lights if it matters for a photo.

One other thing. Some people mean UV protection when they search for UV contacts. Our lenses are cosmetic and we don't sell them as UV protective, so keep your sunglasses on in strong sun.

How we style them

  • Glowing Green with a green or gold liner looks brilliant for a witch, alien or a toxic zombie look.
  • Glowing Black goes really well with a pale base and smudged dark shadow for vampires and demons.
  • For raves, keep your make up bright too. A bit of neon liner near the eyes ties the whole thing together.
  • Take photos with and without flash. The colour can look quite different, so pick what you like best.

At a festival or rave, bring your case and solution because dusty, smoky places dry your eyes out fast, and take them out if they start to sting.

Do glow in the dark contact lenses actually glow?
Not in the way a glow stick does. No contact lens makes its own light, and we don't claim ours do. Glowing Green is a really bright, almost luminous green that stands out at night, and Glowing Black has a slight luminous effect in the dark. Under party lighting they look striking, but they won't light up a dark room.
Are UV contact lenses safe?
Ours are non prescription and CE certified, so they're safe to wear if you look after them properly. Wash your hands, use fresh solution every time and never sleep in them. At raves and festivals, dust, smoke and late nights dry your eyes out, so bring your case and solution and take them out if they sting or feel wrong.
Which contact lenses glow under UV light?
In our experience, bright and pale colours show up best under blacklights and club lighting. White lenses and very bright greens and pinks usually look strongest. If it matters for photos or a costume, test your lenses at home with your own UV torch or bulb first, because every light is a bit different.
Do coloured contact lenses protect your eyes from UV?
Ours are cosmetic lenses and we don't sell them as UV protective. Some prescription lenses from opticians include a UV blocker, but that's a different product. If you're wearing our coloured contacts outside on a sunny day, keep your sunglasses on. It's a good look anyway.
Can I wear glow in the dark contacts to a festival?
You can, as long as you plan a bit. Bring your case, a small bottle of solution and some hand sanitiser, and wash your hands properly before touching your eyes. Don't keep them in overnight in a tent, even if you're shattered. Never sleep in them. Take them out if they feel gritty or dry.
How long can you wear UV contacts at a rave?
We'd stick to around 6 to 8 hours. Clubs and raves are hot and smoky, so your eyes dry out faster than normal. Blink lots, and if they start to feel uncomfortable, take them out and pop them in your case. It's better to finish the night in your own eyes than push it.
Do glow in the dark contacts work on brown eyes?
Yes. Glowing Green and Glowing Black are both opaque coloured lenses, so they sit over your natural colour. Glowing Green on dark brown eyes still comes out bright green, and Glowing Black darkens the iris completely. Like any coloured lens, the shade can look a little different indoors compared to daylight.
Can you see normally in glow in the dark lenses?
Yes, both lenses on this page have a clear pupil, so you see through the middle as normal. In the dark your pupils get bigger, so you might notice a little tint around the edge of your vision. That's normal for any coloured contact. They're non prescription, so they won't correct your eyesight.
How long do glow in the dark contact lenses last?
Ours last up to 12 months once you open them, as long as you clean and store them properly. Rub and rinse them in fresh solution after each wear, keep them in a clean case filled with fresh solution and change the solution every time. Never use tap water on them.
