How to Put in Contact Lenses: The Complete Guide

The first time using contact lenses can seem pretty daunting, but it really doesn't need to! Here we provide all the advice and tips you need to get you on your way to putting them in like a seasoned pro!

First of all, you need to make sure you have access to a well-lit room and a mirror. Wash your hands well with anti-bacterial soap- you don't want to transfer any bacteria onto your lenses!

Take your contacts out of the packaging box, and carefully open the foil seal. In the lens pack, each lens is submerged in a small amount of sterile fluid to keep them moist.

Take out a lens and put it on the end of your finger. Have a look at the sides of the lens- if the edges flare out the lens is inside out. The edges of the lens should look like a bowl with straight edges. If the lens is inside out, simply turn it the other way.

Next, with your free hand lift up your upper eyelid with your finger to ensure the lens doesn't catch your eyelid. With the hand your holding your lens with, use a free finger to gently pull down your lower eyelid.

Move your hand towards your eye and as you get close try not to blink! Look upwards as you place the lens onto your eye, release your eyelid and blink a few times to allow the lens to settle into place.

Simply repeat with the other eye and voila! Your contacts are in!

With each time you put contact lenses in it will become a bit quicker and soon you will be a pro!
